Elite Dangerous: Odyssey Update 15 is out now and features a new mission and new developments in the Thargoid War, along with a series of improvements.
In line with Frontier’s previous promises of seeing Update 15 sometime in the spring, it is finally here. After Update 14 caused some serious issues and the team needed to release an interim update to address them, things are now on track.
The Thargoid war against humanity continues, and it’s your chance to fight back as the conflict escalates in the new content. One connection is that you’ll be able to discover what’s in Maelstroms. There are eight of them, arrived with caustic gas clouds in Update 14. There are also some new features, including a new Thargoid ship, and the new Thargoid Pulse Neutraliser module. By using that module, you'll be able to prevent the Maelstroms’ shutdown pulse, which emanates from deep within the clouds, to affect your ship. Use the enemy’s tech against them in this way and go deeper into the mysterious clouds. Inside is to be discovered, but there will be Thargoid ships amongst the secrets.
The Hunter-class Glaive, is a new Thargoid ship among the ones you’ll encounter. It's a quick ship that is different from ones you might have encountered previously, and there are abilities that will prevent human ships from getting away quickly. This means that encounters take on another level of strategy when you spot Glaives in the fleet.
If you are playing in live mode on PC you'll get to experience the whole narrative experience but if you want the full experience of Update 15, you will need to own Odyssey .
