The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has topped weekly UK retail charts for a second week in a row, as per data released by the Gfk (via GamesIndustry). The open world megaton debuted on top of the charts last week and enjoyed the UK’s biggest physical release of the year, and it has continued to sell well.
It has, in fact, now become the sixth best-selling Zelda game in UK history with just two weeks on the market, leapfrogging the 2019 remake of Link’s Awakening and the 3DS remaster of Ocarina of Time. Last week, Nintendo announced that Tears of the Kingdom had sold over 10 million units worldwide in its first three days.
A rising tide lifts all boats, and other Zelda games have seen increased sales in the UK as well. Breath of the Wild has re-entered the top 10 at No. 8 with a 21% week-on-week increase in sales. Even Skyward Sword HD for the Switch has seen a 342% increase, and currently sits in fourteenth place.
Meanwhile, LEGO 2K Drive, the notable new release for last week, has debuted in seventh place. Its sales, by LEGO standards, is not particularly massive, probably thanks to being in the shadow of Zelda, but as GamesIndustry notes, LEGO titles do tend to have longer tails where their sales are concerned. The open world racer saw 37% of its physical launch sales in the UK on PS5, 31% on Switch, 18% on Xbox, and 14% on PS4.
