Yeah, the tagline's from a totally different movie, but it's still horror-themed, at least. It works.
Anyway, publisher Gun Interactive has announced a release date for its upcoming asymmetric multiplayer horror game, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. Based on the film of the same name, this cat-and-mouse title is heading to PS5 and PS4 this summer, on 18th August — a date that may be familiar to fans.
For those who don't know, this game is similar in style to the likes of Dead by Daylight or Friday the 13th: The Game. One team plays as the infamous family of murderers (including Leatherface himself) and are tasked with killing their victims before they can escape. The other team plays as those victims, aiming to survive by getting away from their captors. Interestingly, the game takes place before the events of the film, with a different group of victims.
A technical test has also been announced, though this is only for PC players. If you're planning to play on PS5 or PS4, you'll need to wait until August for the full launch. Are you excited to play The Texas Chain Saw Massacre? Go hell for leather in the comments section below.
Having grown up alongside PlayStation, Stephen has developed an eclectic taste in video games and a wide knowledge of the medium, from small indie gems to the biggest AAA blockbusters. Ever hopeful that the Burnout series makes a miraculous return.
Co-op/ multiplayer horror is really not my thing and Dead by Daylight has never appealed to me in the slightest. However, I'm a big fan of the source material and the visual faithfulness to that grindhouse style on display here. I'm tempted to try it out at least.
