Coming out of a Paradox Interactive showcase, the publisher teased a new sim game called Life By You. The publisher and developer Paradox Tectonic showed off some short footage of the game, which is set to get a full reveal on March 20. One of the former creators behind The Sims franchise, Rod Humble, is heading Life By You, meaning it could be a very possible competitor.
It’s a very short teaser, but goes over a lot of expected features. You see a town filled with cars and houses. Another clip shows everyday life inside of a home, and also a mode where you can build houses. While there’s not much to go off of, for now it looks like it could compete against The Sims, which is one of the largest life-sim franchises available.

This isn’t the first time a game has stood up to Electronic Arts with a competitor to The Sims, though. An upcoming indie game called Paralives was revealed three years ago and is still in active development. The one thing Life By You holds over Paralives is the industry experience Rod Humble has, since, after working on The Sims, he moved on to work on Second Life.
No other game as of late has been able to topple the success of The Sims franchise. For over 20 years, The Sims has put out four main titles, dozens of side packs, and brought on millions of fans across the globe. But many fans of The Sims , and its latest The Sims 4, have criticized EA for how much content is put behind a paywall they say should be free for all players. If Life By You can give the same content The Sims does but under the price of one game, EA could lose some of its fanbase.
If you’re itching to watch the creator behind The Sims reveal a new competitor he’s heading, tune into the Life By You
