The development of the Silent Hill 2 remake will mark the start of a new phase for Polish developer Bloober Team, as it wants its games to stand head to head with huge franchises from other publishers, according to the studio's CEO.
Speaking with IGN at DICE Summit 2023, Bloober Team's CEO Piotr Babieno talked about how the studio is looking to move beyond the game they have developed so far by creating more complex titles while retaining the studio's trademark style to reach a bigger appeal. This new phase is being spearheaded by the Silent Hill 2 remake, which is more in line with what the studio wants to make in the future.
Speaking about the Silent Hill series, the collaboration with Konami may continue in the future, but nothing is set in stone as of now. The Japanese publisher is apparently interested in continuing the conversation with the Polish team, but for now, Bloober Team is focused on working on the remake of the second entry in the series and other titles in the pipeline, such as the project that will be published by Private Division.
Remaking Silent Hill 2 is definitely a daunting task, considering how popular it is among fans of the genre, and Bloober Team seems to be treading carefully. Earlier this year, it was confirmed that the remake will faithfully stick to the traditional story canon, only making adjustments for better gameplay. Among these adjustments will be a fully overhauled enemy AI.
The Silent Hill 2 remake launches on a yet-to-be-confirmed release date on PC and consoles. We will let you know when the game releases as soon as possible, so stay tuned for all the latest news.
