WWE's The Miz has commented on how he tried very hard to get cast as Johnny Cage in the upcoming Mortal Kombat 2 movie, and how he is ultimately happy to see Karl Urban play the role.
Speaking to ComicBook, Miz said he really liked the latest Mortal Kombat reboot, but felt it was missing something--Johnny Cage. He lobbied hard to play Cage in the sequel, and fans wanted to see that happen as well, as evidenced by The Miz's name trending on Twitter for a period of time.

Hollywood writers and actors are now on striking, seeking better wages and further workplace protections, and that means production on Mortal Kombat 2 is now shut down. Like the original, Mortal Kombat 2 was filming in Australia prior to the shutdown.
