Starfield is just a few weeks away, and Bethesda is going all out to try and get everyone excited for launch. After releasing a complete timeline of the game's history to pour over, Starfield lead designer Emil Pagliarulo and lead quest designer Will Shen took to the game's Discord channel to hold a Q&A. Because of this, we now have a bunch more info about Starfield to sink our teeth into, including the reveal that the game will have over 20 companions that you can recruit and travel around with.
We already know that Starfield has what is considered to be four main companions who are from Constellation. These individuals will have the most story and player interaction, but Shen has explained that there are "20 named characters who can join your crew". Shen says that every one of these characters will have their own backgrounds, and Pagliarulo follows that up by saying that there's are "a lot of talented actors bringing those characters to life."

On top of that, a bunch of features present in Starfield were also revealed for the first time, including the confirmation that Starfield will include housing players can buy or earn. Pagliarulo explains that every major city in Starfield will have a house you can buy, and that one can even be ehard by completing something, presumably a quest.
We also found out that Starfield does have laws, which means you can be thrown in jail if you commit crimes. Pagliarulo says that Starfield's Settled Systems is "more like Skyrim than Fallout 4's Commonwealth", meaning law enforcement is in place to make sure no one is up to any wrongdoing.
