Ms. Marvel episode 1 subtly confirms the MCU has forgotten what Captain America stands for. There's a strange sense in which the MCU's Phase 4 has been characterized by hero-worship of Steve Rogers. Although the theme was most explicit in The Falcon & the Winter Soldier — understandably so, because this dealt with the passing of the shield to Sam Wilson — it's also visible in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Hawkeye, and Ms. Marvel.
Spider-Man: No Way Home revealed the Statue of Liberty was being converted in Captain America's honor, while Hawkeye featured Rogers: The Musical. But Ms. Marvel took things one step further, revealing the first AvengerCon was being held at Camp Lehigh, marketed as "the birthplace of Captain America." She entered the con to the music that played during Captain America's tour when he was attempting to sell war bonds, before he joined the front line as a soldier, and countless women were dressed in cosplays based on the dancing girls who'd accompanied him back in the '40s.

Tony Stark was the one who sacrificed himself to defeat Thanos, and Spider-Man: Far From Home suggested he was the Avenger mourned by the world. But the MCU's United States seems to have increasingly focused on Captain America, so much so the Iron Man tribute at AvengerCon was no larger than the one in honor of Black Widow. For all that's the case, though, Ms. Marvel episode 1 confirmed the MCU has forgotten the true meaning of Captain America, reducing him to a commercial entity and associating him with the superficial aspects of his character, rather than focusing on what really made him a hero.
