In the first issue of Marvel's new Captain America series, Steve Rogers explains the true meaning and power of Super-Soldiers. Volunteering to undergo a secret government experiment to protect his country, Rogers is incredibly strong with physical attributes that exceed those of the normal man. However, Rogers confirms in this new series that the true power of being a Super-Soldier has nothing to do with his literal strength.
Carrying the full title Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty, this new series from Jackson Lanzing, Collin Kelly, and Carmen Carnero is one of 2 new Marvel series featuring Captain America. The other is Captain America: Symbol of Truth which stars Sam Wilson in his own ongoing series as Cap. While two shield-wielding superheroes shared a zero issue, they've since moved on to have their own adventures (though team-up crossovers are sure to be on the horizon).

As seen in the new Sentinel of Liberty #1, Captain America and Bucky Barnes' Winter Soldier are tracking down a foe dressed as the fallen Super-Soldier who was known as the Destroyer. Being the Fourth of July, it seems as though this new enemy intends to create major chaos to taint the country's day of independence. Unwilling to let that happen, Cap and Bucky engage with this imposter while Rogers notes the true purpose of the Super-Soldier. According to Captain America, Super-Soldiers aren't really soldiers. In truth, they're psyops. By turning Rogers (or anyone else) into a formidable Super-Soldier, they become a living symbol and deterrent in the hope of making the enemy run away before the fight even
