Deadpool 2 parodied a lot of conventional superhero tropes — but it also managed to mock the Captain America Avengers: Endgame ending before it even happened in the MCU. While something of an outlier to the MCU — as it's still not clear to what degree Deadpool should be considered MCU canon — the Merc With A Mouth's arrival to the big screen was a massively well-received one. This proved equally true for Deadpool 2, which continued to parody superhero comic and film conventions, while also still maintaining a solid level of plot and emotional pathos in its own right.
One scene that proved this duality came with Deadpool's (temporary) farewell to his fiancée, Vanessa. Having been killed at the start of the film, the pair reunite after Vanessa's Deadpool 2 death when Deadpool himself is on the verge of passing away. Deadpool seems to accept being dead for good in order to have his happy ending of reuniting with Vanessa, but she convinces Wade that he can't leave his friends lost without him just to be with her. Though he manages to bring her back via time travel shenanigans in the Deadpool 2 ending, it's clear neither expects this to be the case when they part ways.

Unexpectedly, this scene managed to parody one of the MCU's sendoffs — specifically Steve Rogers and his Captain America Avengers: Endgame ending - a year before it would even come out.
