Nacon and its Milan studio have revealed their open-world survival game, Terminator: Survivors, along with a Steam Early Access release date of October 24, 2024.
The project’s full debut arrived as part of the February 2024 Nacon Connect presentation. Although no gameplay was shown, creative director Marco Ponte gave fans a few details about what to expect from this new perspective in the Terminator universe.
Terminator: Survivors is a single-player and co-op survival game where you and up to three friends fight against both man and machine while collecting resources. The goodies you collect throughout the open world will keep you alive, but they can also be used to improve your home base. Its story takes place in 2009 and is based on the first two movies. That means players will scour for resources around four years after the world-ending event known as Judgment Day and before the formation of John Connor’s resistance group.
Ponte says the journey begins with the player character unaware of the Terminator uprising, but it shouldn’t take too long before the relentless mechanical hunters make their presence known.
“This takes place in a yet unexplored timeline of the Terminator universe,” Ponte said, “with a completely original storyline that includes both famous characters and new ones, and where you’ll learn about the beginnings of John Connor’s resistance.”
Terminator: Survivors was revealed without an official title in 2022. At the time, Nacon promised an open-world survival game while only revealing a bit about how it fits into the story.
No timeline for the full launch was revealed during the Nacon Connect, though the presentation does mention that PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S versions of Terminator: Survivors are in the works.
