The PlayStation console exclusive Predator: Hunting Groundsis finally coming to Xbox later this year, alongside a wave of new content that will stretch all the way into 2025. Sony Interactive Entertainment and developer IllFonic released Predator: Hunting Grounds on PC and PlayStation 4 back in 2020, and it was the first major console title starring the titular Yautja hunter since 2005’s Predator: Concrete Jungle. Just like IllFonic’s Friday the 13th: The Game, Predator: Hunting Grounds is a multiplayer title that pits a quartet of elite soldiers against a single Predator in a cat-and-mouse struggle for survival inspired by the original Predator movie.
While Predator: Hunting Grounds struggled with building an audience due to mixed reviews and lengthy load times at launch, the game is still considered by some to be one of the better Predator video game tie-ins. IllFonic has added a great deal of new content to Predator: Hunting Grounds since its spring 2020 launch, including character skins modeled after Arnold Schwarzenegger’s appearance in the original Predator film and real-life NFL player Marshawn Lynch as well as “Big Head Mode” and “Floor is Lava” gameplay types.
Now Xbox gamers will be able to dive into the jungle battlefield of Predator: Hunting Grounds, as IllFonic has just announced that the game is getting a next-gen update for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles sometime in late 2024. This update will run on Unreal Engine 4.27 with Wwise audio and Vivox support, and there will be both a Standard Edition and a Digital Deluxe Edition available.
This next-gen Predator: Hunting Grounds update will come after Patch 2.49, which will be available for the previously released PS4 and PC versions in April. While exact details haven’t been released as of this writing, the patch will reportedly focus on player movement, reworking and rebalancing weapons for both the Predator and Fireteam soldiers, and UX and playability improvements. There will also be more Yautja skins
