Cookie Cutter, a stylised 2D Metroidvania game «designed for mature players», has been announced and dated for PS5 all at once. The title launches on Sony's current-gen machine on 14th December 2023, and you can get a taste of what to expect in the trailer above.
Through a mixture of fighting and platforming, main character Cherry (who's an android) must set out to rescue her creator-turned-girlfriend in an adventure inspired by «Japanese manga, Quentin Tarantino films, and H.P. Lovecraft». The world is set to be «massive», with a variety of enemies and huge bosses standing in your path. As you progress, you'll be able to upgrade Cherry with new abilities and weapons such as chainsaws and motorbikes.
A press release explains: «Cookie Cutter features hybrid fighting/ platforming traversal gameplay, with highly stylized environments and objectives serving as the backdrop for fast-paced combat. On the way to victory, the player tangles with environmental hazards, baddies, bosses, and an unfolding plotline told through successive areas, meant to be enjoyed over longer gaming sessions.»

Liam grew up with a PlayStation controller in his hands and a love for Metal Gear Solid. Nowadays, he can be found playing the latest and greatest PS5 games as well as supporting Derby County. That last detail is his downfall.
Looks great, terrible name.
Animation is awesome. Curious!
Yea this looks pretty sick imo
I am all in on this! We are eating really well with Metroidvanias lately.
A guitar, gauntlets and a motorbike as weapons? Just taking a few leaves out of Devil May Cry's book there, are they?
