Capcom has fully unveiled the upcoming DLC character Akuma for Street Fighter 6, confirming that the iconic fighter will be available to players starting May 22. Alongside the announcement, Capcom showcased Akuma's gameplay, highlighting both familiar and new moves that fans can expect from the character in Street Fighter 6.
Street Fighter 6 is the seventh main installment in the renowned fighting game franchise and was released in 2023 by Capcom. It's available across various platforms, including PlayStation and Xbox. Street Fighter 6 features three main game modes: Fighting Ground, World Tour, and Battle Hub. Fighting Ground includes local and online versus battles, as well as training and arcade modes. Street Fighter 6 also incorporates a real-time commentary system for a tournament-like atmosphere.
Akuma's inclusion in the Street Fighter 6 roster was teased in March, and now Capcom has officially confirmed that the new DLC will be released on May 22. Among Akuma’s listed movements by Capcom are some of his signature moves like Gou Hadoken, Akuma's fireball attack that can now be charged to unleash a devastating «red fireball,» offering enhanced offensive options for players. Additionally, Akuma retains his Ashura Senku maneuver, allowing him to swiftly navigate the battlefield while cloaked in shadows, adding to his evasive capabilities.
In addition to his established moveset, Akuma debuts new techniques in Street Fighter 6. The Adamant Flame move sees Akuma performing a forward thrust engulfed in flames, extending his reach and enabling strategic combos. Fans can also look forward to witnessing Street Fighter 6 Super Arts in action with Akuma, including the Messatsu Gohado and Empyrean’s End. Furthermore, Akuma's signature move, the Shun Goku Satsu or «Raging Demon,» returns as a Level 3 Super Art.
