It's been a while since we've had an official update on Starfield's long-awaited Shattered Space story DLC, which was first revealed even before the game launched last September. Thankfully, Starfield director Todd Howard was on hand to give us an official release window, as he recently revealed in an interview during the most recent Kinda Funny Gamescast that Shattered Space is currently scheduled to release this Fall.
Howard reveals the window rather casually at the 35-minute mark, but unfortunately doesn't provide us with a specific release date, which is understandable given it was more of an informal interview. At the very least, it's nice to have confirmation that Shattered Space will launch in 2024, and that we can now expect the expansion to launch at some point within the next 7 months.
In the interview, Todd Howard also confirms that one of Starfield's regular updates will be announced later this week, and from his description, it sounds like a pretty bulky one. For starters, Howard reveals that there are going to be some big additions to the ship-building portion of the game, though he doesn't go into any specifics, and some work has been done on the city maps, presumably to make them much better and help you get around easier.
Ship building became the big one, and in the update that we have coming, I think it's gonna get announced in a few days actually this week. Got some great stuff for ship building in it.
Obviously, these two features won't be the only things the update will introduce, and Howard himself said earlier this month that Starfield's next update will have some "really good" stuff in it. Hopefully, we get some decent new additions this week which will add a bit more longevity to the base game, and that they will tide us over until the release of Shattered Space this Fall.
