How will Starfield fare with critics? We'll know soon.

One of 2023's biggest games, the spacefaring RPG Starfield from Bethesda Game Studios and Microsoft, is launching in early September. But when will reviews begin to appear online?
According to reports, members of the media will be able to start posting reviews on Thursday, August 31 at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET. That is reportedly the very soonest that reviews are allowed to appear online. This is one day before Starfield goes live on September 1 for people who buy the Constellation Edition or purchase an upgrade (more on that below).

Starfield is the first new IP from Bethesda Game Studios in multiple decades. It was originally scheduled to be released in November 2022 before it got bumped to September 6, 2023.
The game launches that day on Xbox Series X|S and PC, while Xbox One owners can play it through the cloud. All Game Pass subscribers will be able to play the game for no extra cost.
The game's $100 edition unlocks five days early, starting September 1, but there is a $35 premium upgrade that players can purchase to jump in at that time. People looking to play on Game Pass can take advantage of this upgrade.
A recent Starfield developer Q&A revealed a lot more information about the game, including how players can buy property and go to jail. Preloading for Starfield begins today, August 17, and it might be worth doing considering the game is 100GB+ in size.
