Despite 's idyllic take on pastoral life, pollution is still a major problem but one player managed to discover just how severe the issue is in Pelican Town. Anyone who's spent a good amount of time fishing in is aware that catching bits of trash is all too common in any body of water. When it comes time to track down those Legendary Fish, yanking up a pair of Broken Glasses or a piece of Driftwood can be incredibly frustrating, but this discovery takes dumpster diving to a new level.
Posted to Reddit by THAT_GEEKY_GIRL13, the user shared a screenshot of their game afterthey successfully managed to fish out an entire garbage can from the Pelican Town fountain.
They note that they've actively been playing for five years but never knew there was an actual piece of «furniture» hidden in the hamlet's pond. Their discovery was well-received by the community as many others similar chimed in that they weren't aware of the garbage can in the fountain, once again demonstrating the sheer amount of content ConcernedApe has hidden in his game.

The garbage can that's hidden within the fountain seemingly functions like any other piece of furniture in. Players who eventually drag it up from the depths (they initially need to sift through some Driftwood) can take it back to the farm and set it up wherever they please. It's certainly a fun discovery and while it's not exactly difficult to purchase a garbage can, having one rescued from the Pelican Town fountain makes it a little more special.
As for the other pieces of trash that are so often caught in, many of the respective items can actually be useful in their own right.
