A Stardew Valley player has spent a considerable amount of effort in creating a big quilt that's based off the farmer's pet dog. While the pets of Stardew Valley don't do much to impact the game, they're nonetheless one of players' favorite things, with many choosing names and appearances for their in-game pet based off of real ones.
Stardew Valley lets players choose whether they want a pet dog, cat, or neither. When a player starts the game, they're asked which is their preference, and Marnie will later give them a chance to adopt the animal. There are some cute interactions that can transpire between the player and their pet, like the animal climbing onto the player's bed to sleep, which just further endear them to fans.
Now, Reddit user ElonH has shared several photos of the large quilt they put together featuring the player's dog. The pixel sprite art has been recreated perfectly, with the dog sitting and a heart bubble floating over its head. The heart appears in-game when players socialize with them, raising the pet's friendship level. The size of the quilt looks perfect to curl up under, though the artist notes that thy won't be doing anything this ambitious again in terms of size.
Many fans have flocked to the comments to shower praise on the project and its creator. Those who are familiar with quilt work shared how impressed they were that the lines are straight and clean. ElonH explained that they created the pattern themselves, utilizing MS Paint to do so, and then cut out hundreds of colored squares to be stitched together in the pattern. Some of the in-progress shots demonstrate the pieces of cloth used to create the design. The fan's dog can be seen in the last image looking on at the work being done, with some commenters joking that it looked unenthused. However, the quilt is sort of a tribute to the real-world dog as well, as ElonH loves the in-game dog due to its similarities to their real pet.
