Following the acquisition of Post Scriptum by Squad developer Offworld Industries in late November, the game is being officially rebranded to Squad 44, a WWII extension of Offworld's main game.
To commemorate the occasion, there's also a meaty free new update that adds the Greek faction, a new map, and a few new weapons.
The map is the second and final one in the Battle of Crete series, which took place between May 20th and 29th, 1941, when Greek and Australian Forces clashed against Fallschirmjäger from the German 7th Fliegerdivision. The Rethymno battlefield has been recreated utilizing modern terrain height maps and original maps and sketches dating back to the battle.
The Greek Faction was developed with input from historians and Greek reenactment organizations. The new faction brings an 'eclectic' mix of German, French, English, Italian and Greek weapons to the game. New weapons include 4 rifles, 2 pistols, 1 light mortar, and a knife.
This is just the start, as former modding team Mercury Arts agreed to work with Offworld Industries to rejuvenate Post Scriptum (now Squad 44).
With their roots firmly embedded in the Post Scriptum community they, as developers, are delighted to have the opportunity to really push the game to the next level and give players the immersive experience they deserve.
Squad 44 is available on PC via Steam. It features over 50 vehicles, over 70 authentic weapons, over 20 large-scale historic maps, servers that have a cap of 80 to 100, buildable fortifications, and built-in VoIP.
