Konami has announced two brand-new classic game collections, bringing Felix the Cat and Rocket Knight Adventures to new platforms. Konami has been doing a lot in recent years to preserve and re-introduce its older games to new audiences. This can be seen with the Castlevania and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles re-release collections, bringing plenty of these retro games from older legacy platforms to the current systems. Konami is once again porting some of its classic titles to modern platforms, collaborating with Limited Run Games to do so.
There was evidence that Konami was bringing back Felix the Cat, due to an ESRB rating that was filed in November 2023, which is usually an indicator that a game is going to be released relatively soon. Rocket Knight might be a more surprising title for gamers, considering it is more obscure compared to a classic cartoon like Felix the Cat. Limited Run Games gave fans the full rundown on what to expect with these two classic gaming collections, known as Felix the Cat and Rocket Knight Adventures: Re-Sparked.
Both of these retro gaming collections were ported using Limited Run's Carbon Engine, a development tool that allows older games to run smoothly on modern platforms. In Felix the Cat, the collection includes both the NES and Game Boy versions, while Rocket Knight Adventures: Re-Sparked includes the original Rocket Knight Adventures, Sparkster: Rocket Knight Adventures 2, and Sparkster. Both of these collections will be released on Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PS5, with pre-orders for Rocket Knight Adventures being available from January 19 to February 18, while Felix the Cat's pre-order window is February 9 to March 10.
