Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse's Jake Johnson imagines what a live-action Peter B. Parker movie might look like if he ever had the chance to film it. Johnson starred in the animated film as Peter B. Parker, an older down-on-his-luck Spider-Man from a different dimension that has buried his Aunt May and lost his wife Mary Jane. He is transported through an inter-dimensional wormhole to assist Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) in defeating the crime boss Kingpin, as well as to help the fledgling hero conquer his fears as he grows into his role as the new Spider-Man of his dimension. Into the Spider-Verse proved to be a massive hit with fans and critics alike, grossing $375.5 million worldwide and currently sitting at a 97% Fresh rating on the review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes.
Although Into the Spider-Verse first brought the friendly neighborhood hero into the realm of the multiverse, the MCU brought the concept into live-action with Spider-Man: No Way Home. In the third Spider-Man film of the MCU, Tom Holland's Spider-Man and Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) accidentally tear a hole through multiple universes, pulling in heroes and villains from other Marvel Spider-Man properties. Both Tobey Macguire and Andrew Garfield reprise their roles as their versions of Peter Parker/Spider-Man. But there was speculation that characters from Spider-Verse may also join the cinematic crossover event.
