VFX artist Kelly Port explains how Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios prevented certain spoiler-filled footage of Spider-Man: No Way Home from leaking to the public before the film's theatrical release. The hugely successful movie ended up breaking a few records, becoming the highest-grossing movie in the COVID era and Sony's highest-grossing movie of all time. It was released on Blu-Ray/4K Ultra HD earlier this week.
Of course, the biggest spoiler from the film was the fact that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield were reprising their roles as Peter Parker/Spider-Man from their own respective franchises. As speculation ran rampant, some set photos would end up leaking online suggesting their return. The movie's second official trailer included a shot in which Tom Holland's Spider-Man jumps toward the villains Electro (Jamie Foxx), Sandman (Thomas Hayden Church), and the Lizard (Rhys Ifans). Many fans were quick to notice how the Lizard seemed to be jumping not toward Holland, but rather toward some invisible foe. The prevailing theory (which later proved to be correct) was that the Lizard was jumping toward a different Spider-Man.

In a new video on Corridor Crew's YouTube channel, Port, a visual effects artist who has also worked on Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, breaks down the processes of some of No Way Home's most difficult CGI work. He explains that the VFX layers of Maguire and Garfield were both removed from the renders, including the characters' shadows.
