At long last, Soul, Luca, and Turning Red will hit theaters.
These three Pixar movies were released in 2020, 2021, and 2022 respectively — which meant that Disney put them directly on Disney Plus without a theatrical rollout. But finally, The gorgeous Italian seaside in Luca, the sprawling fantastical world of the Great Before in Soul, and the epic boy-band giant panda showdown in Turning Red, will have a chance to shine on the big screen. Vindication for Pixar fans who’ve been waiting to see these movies in theaters, but had to settle for Lightyear instead!
Soul will hit theaters on Jan. 12, accompanied by “Burrow,” one of the films from Pixar’s SparkShorts programs. Turning Red opens on Feb. 9, with the SparkShort “Kitbull.” And Luca will premiere on March 22, with the classic Pixar short “For the Birds.”
These three rereleases will precede Inside Out 2, which is set to hit theaters in June 2024. The studio’s new original film, Elio, was previously scheduled for March 2024, but was delayed to 2025 due to the SAG-AFTRA strike.
