That’s according to a tweet from developer Endnight Games.
“Thanks to those who have joined us in our Early Access journey into ‘Sons Of The Forest’,” the tweet reads. “We have sold over 2 million copies in the first 24 hours, and are very excited for what we have in store for players in the coming weeks.”

The survival game has already broken into the top 20 list of highest all-time peak players on the independent Steam database SteamDB.
At the time of writing it’s the fifth most played game on the platform in the last 24 hours, topping blockbusters like Hogwarts Legacy and Warzone 2.0.
“Sent to find a missing billionaire on a remote island, you find yourself in a cannibal-infested hellscape. Craft, build, and struggle to survive, alone or with friends, in this terrifying new open-world survival horror simulator,” reads an official description for the game.
The game is planned to be in early access for around 6 to 8 months, but according to the developers “This could change.”
“We will leave Early Access when we are certain this is the best version of the game possible,” reads a message on the Steam page.
The developer’s previous game, The Forest, is still massively popular and grew a following due to being featured by popular streamers and YouTube content creators.
It’s currently unclear if Sons of the Forest will appear on other platforms. The Forest was released originally on PC in April 2018 before appearing on PlayStation 4 in November.
