Kelvin fans, rejoice: Sons of the Forest patch 4 makes everyone’s favourite helper more useful than ever before. The newest update to the horror survival game packs in plenty of new features, including an action cam, a new bunker-finding system for your GPS tracker, and improvements to AI, along with a whole host of bug fixes and other tweaks.
One feature that hasn’t made the cut is the long-awaited Sons of the Forest log sled. This handy tool from the original game has been a high-priority request among the community, and the good news is that it’s almost here. “Because we have seen a lot of people asking,” Endnight Games says, “the log sled will return! It is almost ready for release and will be included in the next patch.” Excellent stuff.
For now, patch 4 kicks things off with a new way to find bunker locations on the Sons of the Forest map, as they’re no longer visible on your GPS tracker at the start. Endnight previously suggested that it would make such a change to slow down the pace of progression slightly, as many players were immediately rushing through the game’s main story content.
A new Action Cam has been added, along with the first ‘found footage’ tape to discover. There are also a range of new laptops to be discovered at various points of interest. Tons of new AI behaviours and animations have been added to the Sons of the Forest mutants and cannibals, as well as some of the wildlife you’ll encounter.
Fan favourite good pal Kelvin has had some buffs. Not only can he now carry two logs at once, he’ll also actually be able to finish building shelves. Virginia, meanwhile, will now visit you more frequently as she begins to warm to you, and the pair of them shouldn’t get stuck sitting down as often any more.
