Despite the reaction to the way Sonic looked in the movie after its first trailer dropped, the blue blur's big-screen debut went incredibly well. Paramount clearly thought that would be the case as it introduced Tails to the movie during that first film's credits scene. A smart move as two years later, the sequel to the hugely successful first Sonic movie is performing even better at the domestic box office.
The director of both movies Jeff Fowler revealed on Twitter this weekend that Sonic 2 has now raked in more than $150 million at the US box office. Fowler broke the news with a shot of Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles at the cinema. However, he quickly reposted a different pic after fans pointed out Sonic and Tails had popcorn but their echidna buddy had been forced to go without.

“FIXED (can't let our man Knuckles go hungry) THANK YOU ALL for your AMAZING SUPPORT,” Fowler tweeted. The director fixed it by giving Knuckles a big basket of grapes to work through, presumably while watching Sonic 2. If you've seen the movie or one of the final trailers that dropped right before its arrival, you'll know Knuckles hates pretty much everything about Earth, but grapes make the shortlist of things he can tolerate.
