Sophie Turner says she is done with hearing theories about her true-crime drama The Staircase. Turner is an actress whose career is studded with high-profile characters. Her first role was also the role that brought her to prominence: Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones, one of the key figures in the Stark family's fight to rule over Westeros. Turner has also appeared in X-Men: Apocalypse and X-Men: Dark Phoenix as Jean Grey, a teenager with telepathic and telekinetic powers who becomes the twisted, all-powerful figure known as Dark Phoenix. She is the younger, alternate universe version of the character played by Famke Janssen in the original X-Men film trilogy.
Her newest project, The Staircase, is the latest entry in the ever-booming true crime genre. The miniseries, which is a dramatization of a 2004 French docuseries of the same name, premiered its first three episodes on HBO Max. It follows writer Michael Peterson (Colin Firth) whose wife Kathleen (Toni Collette) was found dead at the bottom of a staircase in their home. He is convicted and the fact that he is a crime novelist doesn't help his case. In the series, Turner plays their adopted daughter Margaret Ratliff. The rest of the cast is filled out by Michael Stuhlbarg, Olivia DeJonge, Patrick Schwarzenegger, and The Amazing Spider-Man 2's Dane DeHaan.
