He might have been king since September, but today’s the rather rainy day that someone pops a crown on King Charles III’s head. It’s literally on the TV as I write this intro, and I have no idea what’s going on. There’s some pretty good music, though.
Regardless of your thoughts on monarchic pageantry in general, or the British royal family in particular – there’s been some fun football chants going round on the social media – what this weekend does give us is yet another bank holiday on Monday, and that means even more time for DIY, rainy barbecues and staying inside for some well-earned gaming. What are you getting up to with the extra time off?
But before we get to that time off, let’s check in on the past week in gaming.
In the News This Week
Just a handful of reviews this week, and we’re still ‘in progress’ on the biggest one of the week: Redfall. The open world vampire battler hasn’t gone down too well this week, but we’ve been finding a good bit of fun with it, if you look past the flaws.
This week’s previews were headlined by a one-two punch of Street Fighter 6 previews, as Nick got to have a very extended hands on with the game, delving into the broad Training Grounds, as well as World Tour.
Just as exciting for a different set of games is Park Beyond, the new theme park management game with over-the-top rollercoasters that Dom had a grand old time with.
I also took a peek at Waven, the new MMORPG based in the universe of Wakfu and Dofus that is looking to add some interesting deck-building ideas to its turn-based tactical combat.
And rounding things out for this week, as usual, was What We Played, featuring Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Showgunners and Park Beyond.
