Screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan shares his thoughts on a possible Solo: A Star Wars Story Disney+ sequel series. Kasdan, who previously collaborated with George Lucas on Star Wars: Episode V — The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars: Episode VI — Return of the Jedi,came back to the franchise to co-write Solowith his son Jonathan. The prequel film was ultimately directed by Ron Howard and saw Alden Ehrenreich step into Harrison Ford's iconic role as a young Han Solo, alongside Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian. The film also starred Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Thandiwe Newton, Paul Bettany, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca.
Solo: A Star Wars Storypremiered in 2018 to some mixed results. While the film received generally positive reviews from critics, especially for Ehrenreich and Glover's performances, some criticized Solo for having an unoriginal storyline that didn't complement Han Solo's rogue-ish attitude. Additionally, the Star Warsprequel was a box-office failure. It performed far below initial projections, marking it as a financial disappointment for Lucasfilm. Still, many fans appreciated Solo, and a campaign was started online to encourage a sequel. With the recent development of several Star Wars shows like Obi-Wan Kenobi, some even suggested that Solocould receive a Disney+ series follow-up instead of a feature film.

Now, Kasdan responds to these requests for a Solo TV series in an interview with Inverse. When asked directly about the possibility, the Star Wars writer quickly refutes it.
