Snow White Box Office Tracking Puts It Behind The Little Mermaid Remake’s Opening Weekend
The box office weekend projections for Disney’s have come in.
Snow White will be released in United States theaters this coming March. A live-action reimagining of Walt Disney Production’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, which was released in 1937, the film stars Rachel Zegler as the titular princess, while Gal Gadot plays the Evil Queen.
Per Deadline, Snow White is currently tracking to make somewhere between $63 million and $70 million in the United States during its opening weekend.
This puts it behind the live-action reimagining of The Little Mermaid, which was released in 2023. That movie made around $95.6 million during its first three days of release ($118.8 million during its four-day Memorial Day weekend). In total, The Little Mermaid made around $569.6 million worldwide when it finished its theatrical run.
The tracking numbers are, however, ahead of Mufasa: The Lion King, which made $36.8 million during its opening weekend and has now made over $650 million.
It’s worth noting that the new Disney movie is also currently predicted to be the highest domestic opening for Zegler, with The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Singbords and Snakes being the current title to beat with a $44.6 million weekend.
The remake doesn’t face much competition when it comes to family films that are being released in March 2025; although, A Minecraft Movie will likely provide some opposition when that hits theaters two weeks later. Releasing on the same day as Snow White are The Alto Knights with Robert De Niro and the Jonathan Majors-led Magazine Dreams.
Directed by The Amazing Spider-Man’s Marc Webb, Snow White will be released in United States theaters on March 21, 2025, from Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.
