Silent Hill Townfall is one of several projects based on KONAMI's premiere horror franchise announced at the Silent Hill Transmission presentation in October 2022, alongside the Silent Hill 2 remake (due to be released in just a few days) and Silent Hill F.
After that brief teaser, Silent Hill Townfall Creative Director Jon McKellan from No Code (the studio behind Observation) shared a message with the community:

McKellan also teased that fans would see more of the project in 2023, which hasn't really happened. Furthermore, following Annapurna Interactive's major woes (the entire team recently resigned), many questions were raised about the game's status. Thankfully, a few hours ago, the Twitter(X) accounts of No Code and Annapurna Interactive shared a reassuring message with the community:
We deeply apologize for any concerns about SILENT HILL: Townfall. SILENT HILL: Townfall will continue to be co-developed by KONAMI, Annapurna Interactive, and No Code.
