Wizards of the Coast has revealed the first Marvel-themed cards. Over the weekend at New York Comic-Con, Wizards revealed five Secret Lair drops featuring heroes from the Marvel universe. While will release multiple larger sets of Marvel cards starting in 2025, these new cards represent the first official cards of the new collaboration between the biggest comic book company in the world and the biggest card game in the world.
While these new cards are Universes Beyond cards (similar to recent sets like 's collaboration), they will still be legal in most formats. All five sets contain a legendary creature card version of their respective Marvel superhero, meaning that they can each be used in Commander, as well as Vintage and Legacy formats.
Since Commander recently saw some major shakeups, these new cards could provide a much-needed distraction for those who follow the format. These are limited edition Secret Lair drops, so they should be hot sellers and will likely sell out quickly. Those who spend over $199 will get the Earth's Mightiest Emblem card, a reprint of Arcane Signet with art featuring Avengers Tower.
Black Panther appears as a multicolored character with Green and White Mana. While only a 2/2, Black Panther comes with First Strike and also has an ability that adds 1/1 tokens to one land card whenever a creature the player controls enters play. For 3 mana, a player can move all those tokens to a creature, making them much stronger.
