It's safe to say that 2024 has overall been a good year for video games releasing after years of development, but updates to franchises like and still haven't arrived. Releases such as and have finally put to rest the years of anguish players may have experienced having to wait for development to finish. Despite this, there's still a wide range of games whose existence has been made known for years, yet these titles don't have a clear endpoint as 2024 comes to an end.
While frustrating, video game delays and long wait periods are hardly surprising. It's no secret that games are taking longer to make as the demands for development continue to grow, meaning previously announced titles have since had to deal with unforeseen roadblocks affecting their path to completion. That being said, some video games in particular may have benefitted from being kept quiet, even if just for a little longer.
As a sequel to a hugely successful survival game, 's announcement at the 2020 Game Awards was certainly a highlight of the ceremony. The cinematic trailer that accompanied this announcement would surely have fans excited to dive back into the action survival gameplay they've come to expect. However,all signs point to players having to wait a little bit longer for to release.
Fans were greeted with another look at during E3 2022, accompanied by a 2023 release date. That initial target was pushed back by Studio Wildcard to a late 2024 window. Yet, as the end of the year approaches, there are still no updates on 's development progress, making its late 2024 release unlikely.
Also revealed during the 2020 Game Awards was a new entry for the series. Similar to ,the initial excitement fans had over the reveal may have drifted as its release date remains unclear. Four years later, fans are still without any clue as to when they can expect the new game to hit shelves.
