Welcome to a Tuesday of inordinately discounted video games and consoles. What am I doing today? Just sitting here waiting for Batman: Arkham Shadow to go live in (what seems to be) a very gridlocked and laggy Meta Store. It was, of course, the free game being given away with Meta Quest 3 headsets. It's not too late to get on that (slow) train to Gotham.
In retro news, I'm celebrating the 31st birthday of Disney's Aladdin, a shining, shimmering, splendid diamond in the rough that was 16-bit graphics. Like a genie who'd just been tricked into granting free wishes, my jaw was on the floor when I first beheld this on Mega Drive. Actual Disney artists had lent their talents to the sprite creation process, and we'd simply never before seen characters this expressive and smoothly animated. It was a veritable Cave of Blast-processed Wonders. A whole new world. A new fantastic point of viewwww...Ok, I'll stop.
