Konami has announced a new Silent Hill Transmission is coming this week. That means we could finally see the Silent Hill 2 remake release date announced. Plus, there is more information on the new Return to Silent Hill movie.
The Silent Hill series is just starting its revival tour. Its publisher, Konami, has released a short PS5 game and given us a glimpse of Pyramid Head in the Return to Silent Hill movie. But news on the other games, and crucially, news on the Silent Hill 2 remake.
But the live stream set to air on May 30, 2024, holds promises of fresh updates on the games, the film, and merchandise relating to Silent Hill.
There are a few projects on the go at the moment, with NoCode’s Silent Hill Townfall and a period entry, Silent Hill F, also largely missing since their initial reveals. Silent Hill The Short Message was released on PS5 earlier this year, and it seems like it could be connected to Silent Hill F.
But the Silent Hill 2 remake release date is causing the most angst. Fans of the original have been split on Polish developer Bloober Team‘s taking the reins on the beloved psychological horror classic’s remake.
Fellow horror game icon Resident Evil has enjoyed multiple successful remakes of its classic titles. But fans of Silent Hill aren’t entirely confident in Bloober Team’s ability to deliver something on par with the original.
Meanwhile, the movie Return to Silent Hill was first announced in October 2022. It will also be retelling the story of Silent Hill 2. Christophe Gans, who directed the 2006 Silent Hill movie starring Radha Mitchell, Sean Bean, and Laurie Holden, will direct the film.
The film will star Jeremy Irvine as James Sunderland and Hannah Emily Anderson as Mary.
The plots of the game and the movie follow the same path. A mysterious letter from his wife Mary calls James back to Silent Hill. Once there, he finds a once-recognizable town transformed by an unknown evil.
