Grasshopper Manufacture has announced that Shadows of the Damned will be getting a remaster.
Announced during the countdown to the latest Devolver Digital Direct, the game is “coming soon”, with no further information on release details.
Shadows of the Damned was released in June 2011 on PS3 and Xbox 360, and was a collaboration between Grasshopper’s Goichi Suda (aka Suda51) and Shinji Mikami.
The game starred Garcia Hotspur, a demon hunter who has to rescue his girlfriend Paula from the Lord of Demons.
In a new trailer for the remaster, Garcia is shown arriving at Grasshopper’s offices and killing a staff member.
Although Shadows of the Damned was developed by Grasshopper, it was published by Electronic Arts, leaving some unsure as to who owned the rights.

However, one stage in 2019 No More Heroes spin-off Travis Strikes Again is based on Shadows of the Damned, suggesting Grasshopper had access to the IP.
Indeed, in an interview with VGC back in 2021, Suda confirmed that Grasshopper owned the rights to Shadows of the Damned, and that its return was possible.
“There are several IPs which we do own the rights to, and so we’re free to do whatever we like with those,” he told us at the time.
“The IPs for which we hold the rights would be the Silver Case series, Flower, Sun, and Rain, Killer is Dead, and Shadows of the Damned.
“While I don’t have any current plans or anything in the works, if I were to go back and revisit some of our past titles, it would most likely be one of these.”
