Capcom has been on an unstoppable streak for a good few years now, but its announcement of Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess fell a little flat during not-E3 as there was very little to latch onto. Now, in the aftermath of its first trailer, the Japanese publisher has peeled back the curtain a little bit on the PS5 release.
Firstly, this is the latest endeavour from Capcom Dev 1, the division responsible for releases like Resident Evil and Devil May Cry. It’s being helmed by Shuichi Kawata, who’s worked on a variety of projects, including most recently the Apple Arcade outing Shinsekai: Into the Depths. If you’re not familiar with this underwater adventure game, it was later ported to the Nintendo Switch, but isn’t available on PlayStation platforms unfortunately.
Still, Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is described as a strategy action title, and we must admit we certainly got some Pikmin vibes from the first trailer. Kawata says Capcom will share “more information in the future”, but for now that’s all we’ve got to go on. It’s nice to see the Japanese publisher experimenting with some original experiences, though, isn’t it?
