After directing The Flash, a film with several Batmen in it, Andy Muschietti's next film will see him helm The Brave and the Bold as part of DC Studios' upcoming slate of movies.
«We saw The Flash even before taking the reins at DC Studios, and knew we were in the hands of not only a visionary director but a massive DC fan,» DC Studios presidents James Gunn and Peter Safran said to Variety. «It's a magnificent film--funny, emotional, thrilling--and Andy's affinity and passion for these characters and this world just resonates through every frame. So, when it came time to find a director for The Brave and the Bold, there was really only one choice. Luckily, Andy said yes. Barbara [Muschietti] signed on to produce with us and we were on our way.»
The Brave and the Bold--which is inspired by Grant Morrison's comic book run--features both Batman and Robin in action. This isn't the original Robin joining the Caped Crusader either, as the film will focus on Batman's secret son Damian Wayne, who was raised since birth to succeed his father and eventually replace him. «He was raised as a little murderer, an assassin. He's a little son of a bitch. He's my favorite Robin,» Gunn said during the reveal of the new DC cinematic universe.
This film will still be a long way from entering production, as the hunt is currently on to find a screenwriter. Until then, work on Gunn's Superman Legacy film is continuing as the director looks to find the right Man of Steel for the movie and other projects include a live-action adaptation of The Authority, a Swamp Thing horror movie, and an Amanda Waller TV series.
