Mirroring the fantastical plotline of Metaphor: ReFantazio, SEGA is giving one lucky fan the chance to win a real-world royal title and become the «Hand to the Sovereign Prince of Sealand.» That's right—you can become the personal retainer of His Royal Majesty, Prince Liam Bates of The Principality of Sealand, the world's smallest micronation, formerly an old sea fort located on a sandbar 11 kilometres off the coast of Suffolk.
As decreed by IGN, while Sealand is not formally recognised as a nation, that hasn't stopped the plucky principality (to which Germany once sent an ambassador) from making deals and entering the video game market. You can enter this grand tournament by creating a short video explaining why you deserve to serve Sealand as Hand.
The winner presumably has to get to the UK on their dime (if they aren't already there) but will get a taxi to the nearest train station, two return tickets to Harwich (not first class), a two-night stay in a Harwich hotel (no room service), a thrilling speedboat ride out to Sealand, and an authentic deed bestowed by the Prince. Come on, SEGA, you've had a good year; you couldn't spring for room service?
«We’ve achieved a lot as the world’s smallest nation but this partnership with SEGA and Atlus to create a one off title marks our first foray into the world of video games, and it’s a venture future Sealand royals will look back on with pride.»
Studio Zero «didn't want players to feel limited by time»
