PlanetSide 2 Marks 12th Anniversary Following EU Server Merge, Examining More Merges
PlanetSide 2 is celebrating its 12th anniversary with new bundles, quality of life improvements, and some fixes.
For the anniversary, Toadman Interactive has released some bundles at three DBC price points, featuring an all new bundle that comes with the new Wasteland armor set. Other options in the two bundles which start at 1999 DBC, include the Representative title, the 12th anniversary camo and decal, 12 year loyalty banner, faction-specific gear, and things like additional titles, decals, and more if you really want additional customization options. Additional customization options will be included in the upcoming sales for Thanksgiving Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
The anniversary follows a merge of servers in the EU region at the end of October. Servers Cobalt and Miller, with the combined server known as Miller. To prepare for this, the team has been testing ways to Port characters over in a way that didn't result in losing data, progression, or items, and they were sure enough to proceed with the merge.
The purpose of all this, of course, especially on a game more than a decade old, is to help with population issues and to make things more generally playable. Now that they have managed these merges, in a FAQ, the team indicated that this is the first planned merge, but it's also a test case. After this, they're going to be evaluating other servers that could be subject to potential merges.
As for the anniversary patch, they've also improved performance on spawning vehicles and projectiles, and fixed some annoying disconnection and audio bugs.
