ByteDance is making a move away from gaming according to a report from Reuters claiming that that the TikTok owner will shutdown of its major gaming arm and Marvel Snap publisher, Nuverse. Snap developer Second Dinner releases a statement reassuring concerned fans.
Speaking to Reuters, ByteDance's spokesperson offered the following statement in response to the report:
«We regularly review our businesses and make adjustments to centre on long-term strategic growth areas. Following a recent review, we've made the difficult decision to restructure our gaming business.»
Despite the relative success of some titles, including Marvel Snap, which brought in over 100 million in revenue since its launch in late 2022, Nuverse hasn't lived up to ByteDance's expectations and the move away from gaming is likely to impact hundreds of Nuverse employees.
Marvel Snap developer Second Dinner responded to concerns from fans on Twitter:

The game is currently in the midst of a new season promoting the latest film entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, The Marvels. The launch of it's next season just around the corner with datamines suggesting a focus on Marvel's popular Hellfire Gala comic book storyline.
