Kal Penn joins the cast of Disney+’s The Santa Clause series, co-starring alongside the returning Tim Allen as Scott Calvin/Santa Claus and Elizabeth Mitchell as Carol Calvin/Mrs. Claus. Following The Santa Clause movie trilogy, the show will trail Scott’s journey as he approaches his 65th birthday, setting out to find a fitting Santa replacement as he prepares for retirement with his family. Along with starring in the highly anticipated series, Allen will also serve as an executive producer with Last Man Standing creator Jack Burditt.
Now, according to Variety, Harold & Kumar star Penn is set to feature in the upcoming The Santa Clause limited series. Penn has been cast in the role of Simon Choksi, a wannabe tech mogul specializing in product development and game invention. The dedicated, single father dreams of becoming the next Bezos, but reality falls far short of his aspirations - until he pays a visit to the North Pole, that is.

Following the success of their streaming service, Disney is venturing into another beloved franchise, similar to their tactic seen with the recent comeback premiere of The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder. The news of Penn’s casting comes shortly after Modern Family alum Jason Winer was announced to both direct and executive produce the Disney+ show, the latter alongside Jon Radler for Small Dog Picture Company. Although details on when The Santa Clause will release on the streaming platform have yet to be disclosed, the Disney Branded Television series will begin production sometime in March.
