After employee walkouts and internal conflicts, Disney has finally broken its silence regarding the state of Florida's Parental Rights in Education Bill, widely known known as the «Don't Say Gay» Bill. The company has recently been the subject of controversy, thanks to both its ambiguous stance on the bill and the widely publicized feud between its current and previous CEOs, Bob Chapek and Bob Iger. Now, as the bill becomes law, Disney appears to have changed its company stance and has chosen to actively denounce HB 1557.
The «Don't Say Gay» bill is designed to prevent the teaching of any LGBT-related topics in schools to children between kindergarten and the third grade, and beyond those grades in any manner that is not «age-appropriate.» It was signed into law by Florida governor Ron DeSantis on Monday. Disney's previous silence on the bill despite its open commitment to LGBT rights and representation has been condemned, not only because the company is heavily intertwined with the Floridian tourism industry due to its operation of the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, but because it also donated to several lawmakers who voted in favor of the bill.

In a statement released on Monday on its website, Disney affirmed its commitment as a company to LGBTQ+ rights and expressly condemned the passing of the bill. Going further than a denunciation of the bill, however, the statement also declared that the company intended to actively work towards its repeal or blocking within the courts. The announcement is not attributed to Chapek specifically, but rather to "a spokesperson" for the company. Disney's official statement is as follows:
