Jada Pinkett Smith has issued a cryptic response to husband Will Smith's Oscars slap. Smith took to the Oscars stage while comedian/actor Chris Rock was presenting the award for Best Documentary feature and slapped him over a joke he made about Pinkett Smith. Rock took a jab at Pinkett Smith's shaved head, which is a result of her suffering from the hair loss condition known as alopecia, saying that he looked forward to seeing her inG.I. Jane 2, a reference to the Demi Moore film from 1997, in which Moore shaved her head for the role.
Smith returned to his seat after the slap and shortly afterward won the Best Actor award for his performance in King Richard. During his emotional speech, he apologized to The Academy for his behavior. Both Smith and Pinkett Smith were seen partying late into the night after the Oscars, but calls for a response the next day led to myriad statements being released. Smith issued a lengthy apology on Instagram, while The Academy condemned his actions and announced that a formal review would take place over the incident and that action may be taken.
