GOG introduces menstrual leave for staff

CD Projekt's GOG storefront has started providing menstrual leave for its employees.

The initiative was announced on LinkedIn three weeks ago, with Axios reporting that this was inspired by female staff, including culture and communication manager Gabriela Siemienkowicz, saying they were experiencing difficulties due to them menstruating.

“We shared the same view on this matter and would appreciate the possibility to simply lay down and take most of the day off without sacrificing one of the regular paid absence days we have available throughout the year,” Siemienkowicz said.

“It fosters inclusiveness by accepting that there are biological differences in the workplace,” she said, adding that it helps break down taboos around periods. “By giving such additional days off, we acknowledge these symptoms are real.”

The policy allows staff to be compensated hourly for time taken off work rather than entire days. Siemienkowicz says that the plan is to look at the impact of this initiative at the end of 2022.
