Unfortunately for Steve Trevor, the love between Batman and Wonder Woman may be the will of the gods. As Diana was pulled out of one of her darkest moments, she may have come to the realization that the Dark Knight is her one true love.
Wonder Woman is known for the love and compassion she shares for all life. That love even extended to Steve Trevor when he crash landed on Themyscira and she championed his cause to return him home. While learning of the world beyond her humble lands, she fell for the pilot the gods seemed to bring to her door. However, it seems the two were never truly meant to be as Wonder Woman embraced her path as a hero the world needed. While Steve would go on with his career in the military, Diana spent more time with the Justice League forming some of the strongest bonds she's ever made.

After the Princess of Themyscira was forcefully inducted into the Black Lantern Corps, those bonds were put to the test in Blackest Night: Wonder Woman #2 by Greg Rucka, Nicola Scott, and Eduardo Pansica. Wonder Woman fights under Nekron against some of her closest allies while under his control. As Cassandra Sandsmark, Donna Troy and Queen Hippolyta all fall to the zombified Diana, she attempts to wrestle back control just as Batman arrives to help her. With Bruce Wayne thought dead at the time, Wonder Woman knows it must be a fantasy, but she gives in and falls to the Dark Knight's embrace as a Star Sapphire Power Ring glows, waiting for her to accept it.
Wonder Woman's hunch is correct, because the events of the entire issue were actually the goddess Aphrodite putting Diana in a simulation to prevent her from harming any living souls. Love
