The second Wonder Girl, Cassie Sandsmark, uses a magic lasso similar to Wonder Woman's but it not only has a different enchantment, but it also comes from Diana’s enemy, Ares. Wonder Woman’s Lasso of Truth is easily her most iconic weapon, but her first two sidekicks have unique lassos of their own, with Cassie’s being the Lasso of Lightning. Cassie’s lasso, along with her relationship with Ares, is tied to one of her most important character arcs.
Wonder Woman’s Lasso of Truth appeared within a year of her debut, and its unique properties, such as its varying length, indestructibility, and enchantment that compels total honesty from those entangled in it, quickly cemented it as her most famous weapon. Wonder Woman’s first sidekick, Donna Troy, used a similar lasso (which lacked the truth enchantment), but she later obtained the Lasso of Persuasion, which forces those with weaker willpower than Donna to obey her commands. Naturally, the second superpowered sidekick to use the Wonder Girl moniker would receive a unique lasso as well.

In the 2003 comic Teen Titans vol. 3 #4 by Geoff Johns and Mike McKone, Wonder Girl finally meets her half-brother, Ares, who tries to earn her trust by giving her a gift: A magic lasso with nearly-identical properties to Wonder Woman’s Lasso of Truth. The only difference is its unique enchantment that summons the lightning of Zeus when Cassie is enraged. The Lasso of Lightning serves Cassie well throughout her adventures as Wonder Girl, while also tying into her relationship with Ares.
