The characters in SpongeBob SquarePants are all based on sea animals except for one: Sandy Cheeks, a squirrel who moved to Bikini Bottom, but as her character has evolved and viewers have known her better, her first appearance ended up creating a plot hole. Nickelodeon has been home to many memorable and successful cartoons, but its most successful Nicktoon to date is SpongeBob SquarePants, created by Stephen Hillenburg. SpongeBob SquarePants premiered on Nickelodeon in 1999 and it has been unstoppable ever since, with over 10 seasons and counting.
SpongeBob SquarePants takes viewers to the bottom of the ocean, specifically to the underwater city of Bikini Bottom, where the title character and his friends live. SpongeBob often gets involved in all types of trouble around town, and he’s accompanied by his best friends Patrick Star and Sandy Cheeks, his neighbor Squidward Tentacles, and his greedy boss Mr. Krabs. Sandy Cheeks is not only one of only three main female characters in the show (the others being Pearl and Mrs. Puff) but also the only one who isn't a sea character, and she moved to Bikini Bottom from Texas at the beginning of SpongeBob SquarePants.

Sandy Cheeks’ debut in SpongeBob SquarePants was in season 1’s episode “Tea at the Treedome”, where she was fighting a clam and SpongeBob tried to help her, but it ended up being the other way around.
