RuneScape’s 23rd anniversary was technically last week, but the team is opening up a new celebration with this week’s update. Of course, there are hats (and buffs). The week also brings some loot changes to the Vorkath and Zemouregal battle.
The Birthday Buff Bonanza Starts today and runs through January 21st. Login each day to select one of three choices of buffs for that day. The choices presented each day fit into Combat, Skilling, or a miscellaneous option. The choices presented to everyone will be the same, but you can choose only one to take advantage of that day. Once you’ve chosen, you get a 2-hour total buff to enjoy that day. This works like your double XP timer, so you can log out for lunch and come back and not lose any time on the buff.
The other reason you’ll want to choose a buff each day? They help you to earn your very new Fancy Hat and Fancy Hat (Retro), which will both unlock for you once you’ve chosen enough daily buffs. While free to play and Ironman players will be able to unlock the hat, they won’t get to take advantage of the buffs themselves.
The team has published a list of all buff types and a second spoiler section showing which will be the choices per day if you want to plan out how to best take advantage. Some of them include things like Kleptomaniac: which buffs pickpocketing so it never fails and High Metabolism, which gives +100% healing from food and potions.
RuneScape is also introducing some important changes to theVorkath and Zemouregal loot tables, following feedback requested back in November.
