Overwatch and Diablo developer Blizzard Entertainment is seemingly working on something new. As spotted by Timur222 on Twitter (also known as X), senior director of product management Chris McCabe has added an «unannounced AAA RPG-FPS title» for consoles and PC to his LinkedIn profile. Interesting.
As you'd expect, unannounced projects like this tend to generate a lot of speculation. The mention of «AAA» at least gives us some idea of the game's scope, but there's no guarantee that it won't be cancelled or completely rebuilt long before we even get a chance to see it.
Still, McCabe's profile provides a hint as to what the project might be. As recently as June 2024, he was assigned the role of product manager for Overwatch specifically. And with that in mind, some people are already betting on this «RPG-FPS» being related to the popular hero shooter.
Adding weight to this theory is the fact that once upon a time, Blizzard had pretty big plans for PvE modes in Overwatch. At one point, they were going to be a core component of Overwatch 2 — but the whole idea was canned before the sequel's full release in 2022. It's possible the bones of that PvE stuff will form the basis of whatever this new project is.
Of course, we'll have to wait and see how all of this plays out. Again, it could be years until we actually hear about this game in an official capacity.

A little too much, some might say.
